The satellite system of Einstein Probe presented its Phase B summary report on Dec. 25, 2019 at the National Space Science Center, CAS (NSSC). The panelists on the reviewing board agreed that EP had accomplished the work of Phase B with satisfying results and approved the satellite system to entered Phase C.
On Nov 21th, 2019, the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of CAS finished the assembling and testing of the Structure and Thermal Model (STM) of EP’s Follow-up X-ray Telescope (FXT). It was delivered to the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of CAS (MicroSAT) on the same day.
The 2nd CAS/ESA/MPE and EP workshop was held in Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Garching (München), Germany on Nov. 5, 2019.
The CAS announced to develop a group of four satellites in the new space science program, including “Einstein-Probe (EP)”.
BEIJING — China Wednesday launched a new space science program focusing on the origin and evolution of the universe, black holes, gravitational waves and relationship between the solar system and human.
The engineering implementation phase for the EP hardware was started in Sep 2017, and the approval of the mission was officially endorsed by CAS in Dec 2017.
